200 Mile Kentucky 68/80 Milk Run

I have recently become a fan of yard sales. After our last successful adventure, my daughter and I were primed to hunt for treasure on the 68/80. We began our yard sale journey at Russellville and ended in Cadiz with a detour to Princeton. Over 200 miles was traveled that day. BTB (Bride to Be) and I had 2 goals: get milk glass cheap and look at wedding dresses. Luck was on our side because the weather was sunny and dry and the roads were light in traffic. We're going along enjoying the drive and eagerly anticipating our first stop. Yeah!! there is one on the right. No milk glass. On to another one. No milk glass. Another one way off the road.

Longhorn Cattle!!

We were determined to find the mother-lode.... so on we traveled. Don't get me wrong there were nice yard sales. We were just looking for milk glass. Just outside of Hopkinsville we struck gold....rather milk.

The next 2 stops were treasure troves. BTB got milk glass at bargain prices and I bought rocking chairs for the grandkids.

We made it to Ziobro's in Princeton. Now if you are in the market for a bridal gown, This is the place to go. They are having a 50%-70% sale. We would have loved to have found a sale gown but our bride to be knows what she wants and it wasn't there. So on to Cadiz we traveled to get back on the 68/80. No luck with yard sales but we did find a noteworthy place to eat. One of the 100 places you must eat in Kentucky. Hot Diggity Dog Cafe.

The dogs were delicious, the beer battered onion rings crunchy, but oooooh.........

THE ICE CREAM

And that is just an adult single scoop.....
YUM YUM YUM

Well it turned out to be a great day. We were looking for milk treasure and boy did we get it.

But I have to say the best treasure of all was making memories with a very special bride to be.

  1. Great post, Cindy! I've never been very interested in Milk Glass, but the photos are lovely. Mark and I have been doing the "yard sale thing" for a while now------such fun! I'm always on the look-out for vintage Pyrex and, every-now-and-again, I'll find a treasure.

Good luck finding the perfect wedding dress. I'm quite sure the special one your daughter is looking for is out there, right now, just waiting for her to lay eyes on it!!

    Blessings, Patti

  3. Thank you both for the supportive comments. Patti, yard sales are so much fun when you also get to spend the time with people you love. The BTB is planning on using the milk glass as centerpieces. I have mentioned to BTB several times your do it yourself outdoor wedding, Cassie, so we may be calling on you for some suggestions.
